About
Think Policy! is the flagship project of POLEDU Learning Foundation that introduces the fundamentals of public policy and governance.
A full-day course to enrich high school students with the spirit of critical thinking. Instilling in them a belief in the power of innovative policy ideas for social change. The course follows a three-step method used in the social analysis: awareness, reflection, and action in order to bring the desired public policy change. It is open for students from all streams, arts, commerce and science.
THINK Policy! is a pilot course and aims to target 800 students from 20 schools.
Speakers are public policy experts who have experience working on diverse issues, including Education, Health, Economics, Environment, Livelihood, and Technology.
rationale
Policy Talks ventures into the platforms where no policy programs have taken place. THINK Policy! targets high schoolers who have not entirely decided which professional route to take after school. It offers an opportunity to help younger students discern their academic and career choices. It also introduces them to a new career option which is working full time in the civic society sector as researchers, program managers, policy analysis, advocates & policy entrepreneurs. THINK Policy!enables students to understand the importance of public policy solution to social problems and encourages innovative policy thinking at their young age.
objectives
To build among young Indians who are interested in understanding the role of civic society in public policy making, a culture of critical thinking and the ability to understand policy making in India.
To equip young Indians with the willingness and confidence to participate in public discourse and become social policy entrepreneurs in some form as they shape their academic future and move ahead in their professional lives.
Methodology
course methodology
The training will be based on three main components: Awareness, Reflection, Action. This is an experiential learning format that encourages students to enquire into problematic situations that affect them on a daily basis, then plan and organize specific actions to bring about a positive change to address those problems. This inductive method of analysis begins with the everyday life experiences of young people, and the issues and challenges they face regularly. The method is aimed at making students aware of the reality of their particular situation, in their school, home and in society. The course will be facilitated through activity-based learning such as case studies, stories, games, films, debates and input sessions followed by group discussions
